Corinne Young is a textile artist from East Yorkshire who creates embroidered 3D artwork and bespoke accessories. Her work is inspired by gardens, antique botanical books and the artefacts to be found in historic houses. To create her work, Corinne uses vintage fabrics and trimmings, and handmade linen paper, which she makes in large sheets in her studio. She exhibits widely in galleries and museums throughout the UK, and has undertaken several large commissions and residencies. Commissions have included an installation at Burton Constable Hall, and 16 large embroidered publicity panels for the Lord of the Rings stage productions in Toronto and London. Her work is inspired by two major things – gardens, and the artefacts to be found in historic houses. The finished artworks are delicate in feel and reflect the complexity and fragility of their subjects. In 2015 Corinne was chosen to receive a Craft & Design magazine silver award, took part in a joint interior/exterior exhibition with a Chelsea Gold medal winning garden designer, and undertook a commission to make 20 botanical artworks for the Modern Pantry, a London Restaurant. This year Corinne has had her work featured in several glossy magazines and had successful exhibitions at RHS Harlow Carr, the Yorkshire Arboretum and Chawton House Library. 2017 will see her work featured in a top magazine; she has been selected to exhibit at Walford Mill Crafts in Dorset and in North Yorkshire Open Studios.
