I have practised as an embroidery artist since graduating from Goldsmiths Art College, London. For 22 years I have specialised, promoted and explored the beautiful medium of free machine embroidery and appliqué. I have developed a wide range of artworks which cover a variety of themes from figures, birds and flowers to tumbleweeds, seeds and coral.
Initially I was commissioned to create fun figurative embroidered artworks for special birthdays and weddings; you may have spotted my ‘In Stitches’ range of greetings cards depicting figures dancing, shopping and drinking, in John Lewis. Over the years I have finely tuned my techniques and worked with a variety of high profile clients including Liberty, Collect at The Saatchi Gallery, for Channel 4, at the Anthropologie Gallery, Kings Road, where I had a solo show last Christmas and very recently at London Design week in the Craft Council’s British Craft Pavilion. I have carefully selected my favourite embroideries and developed a luxury collection of silk scarves and bespoke handmade cushions which depict my original detailed artworks. Printed in Bollington, stitched in Styal, these limited edition products have been featured in Tatler, Homes and Antiques, AD Magazine and very recently in the Financial Times, Homes and Property section. The rich and tactile detail is a result of extremely high resolution Giclee photography which I use to archive each one of my embroidered artworks. This shows clearly each stitch, splot of paint, sequin and feather resulting in a wearable or very loveable piece of contemporary, original embroidered art.
